  • Number of hens. Residents are allowed to keep up to six (6) hens in their backyards.
  • Roosters. Roosters are not permitted to be kept within city limits.
  • Enclosure height. Chickens must be kept in a fenced enclosure that is at least 42 inches high.
  • Predator-resistant enclosure. The enclosure must be predator-resistant to ensure the safety of the chickens.
  • Henhouse requirement. Chickens must be provided with a covered, predator-resistant henhouse.
  • Personal use only. Hens must be kept for personal use only; selling eggs, engaging in chicken breeding, or fertilizer production for commercial purposes is prohibited.
  • Slaughtering prohibition: The slaughtering of chickens is strictly prohibited.

  • Property line distance. Chickens must be kept at least 25 feet away from any property line.
  • Clean and sanitary environment. Chickens must be kept in a clean and sanitary environment to maintain public health and safety.
  • Proper manure disposal. Chicken manure must be disposed of properly to prevent environmental contamination.
  • Permit requirement. Before keeping chickens, it is necessary to obtain a permit from the city. Ensure compliance with all permit regulations.
