  • Number of Chickens: Residents of Concord, New Hampshire, can keep up to 5 female chickens on a lot less than one acre in size.
  • Prohibited Chickens: Male chickens are prohibited from being kept within city limits.
  • Restrictions on Roaming: Chickens must be kept within structures and fenced areas and cannot roam free.
  • Location of Structures and Fenced Areas: Structures and fenced areas for chickens and manure storage areas must be located in side or rear yards and should not be within 30 feet of any lot line.
  • Personal Use Only: The chickens kept must be for personal use only. Selling eggs or engaging in any commercial activity related to keeping the chickens is prohibited.
  • Prohibition on On-Site Slaughtering: On-site slaughtering of chickens is prohibited in Concord.
  • Requirements for Structures and Fenced Areas: 
    • The structures housing the chickens must provide adequate ventilation and be maintained neat and sanitary. 
    • The fenced areas should be spacious enough to allow the chickens to roam freely and must be situated in a side or rear yard.
  • Manure Storage Requirements: 
    • Manure storage areas must be located in a side or rear yard and covered by a fully enclosed structure or container. 
    • The storage is limited to a maximum of 3 cubic feet of manure.
