  • Residents are allowed to keep up to six chickens per tract of land.
  • Roosters are not allowed to be kept.
  • Chickens must be kept in a secured enclosure or fenced area at all times.
  • During non-daylight hours, chickens must be secured within a henhouse or chicken tractor.
  • Enclosures must be kept clean, dry, odor-free, neat, and sanitary at all times.
  • Henhouses and chicken tractors must be enclosed on all sides, with a roof and doors.
  • Henhouses, chicken tractors, and chicken pens must be located only in the defined rear of the property according to zoning code requirements.
  • Chickens, guineas, geese, ducks, turkeys, or other domestic fowl must not be allowed to run at large, except on premises owned or controlled by the owner.

Keeping more than six chickens:

  • If you wish to keep more than six chickens, there are additional requirements to follow.
  • Each chicken must have a minimum enclosure size of 12 square feet.
  • The enclosure must be located at least 50 feet away from any neighboring buildings.
  • A battery located in a building or structure cannot contain more than 25 chickens.
  • If you have more than 24 chickens, the battery must be situated more than 25 feet away from neighboring buildings.
