Number of Chickens

  • On a lot with a lot area of less than 20,000 square feet, six (6) chickens may be kept.
  • On a lot with a lot area between 20,000 square feet and 40,000 square feet, up to ten (10) chickens may be kept.
  • On a lot with a lot area greater than 40,000 square feet, twenty-five (25) chickens may be kept.

Roosters: Roosters are not allowed on properties with a lot area of less than 6 acres.

Coop Requirements

  • All chickens must be kept in an enclosure or fenced area at all times. This requirement can be met through the use of a mobile enclosure.
  • The coop must be large enough to provide adequate space for the chickens to move around and roost.
  • The coop must also be kept clean and dry, and must have a nesting box for each chicken.

Waste Disposal

  • All chicken manure and waste must be properly disposed of. Manure can be composted or stored in a covered container.
  • Manure should not be stored in large quantities and should be removed from the property on a regular basis.

Other Requirements

  • Chickens must not be allowed to run loose in the neighborhood.
  • Chickens must not be a nuisance to neighbors.
  • Chickens must be kept in a healthy condition.
